Teaching Philosophy

My teaching philosophy revolves around the idea that everyone learns in their own way. My job as an educator is to figure out how a student consumes, processes and applies information. I am then able to provide that student with techniques to help them reach their learning potential.

I believe that every student learns in a different way, and at different rates, depending on their learning style. It also matters how information is being presented to that student. Everybody is able to take in information in multiple ways, but the rate at which retain that information depends on our individual tendencies as active learners.

As we identify the style that provides the highest rate of development for the student, we can tailor the delivery of information to best suit that learner. It is my belief that students have the best chance of success if they are provided information in as many ways as possible. This ensures that their development encompasses multiple styles in case some concepts are better understood with their secondary learning preferences. In this way students are not forced to rely on understanding through a single style of learning.

Utilizing multiple learning styles provides the student with the best chance of retaining information. By engaging multiple senses we allow the brain to continually establish and strengthen neural pathways. From there the student will move through Bloom's Taxonomy of learning domains through project based learning. This provides the proper tools and settings for students to achieve high levels of success.
